 The
paradox of technology that has accelerated and transformed the business
world is that more and more the tools that we need are not technical but
cerebral. All the hardware, all the chips, all the technology are not
substitutes for communication, teamwork and creative thinking. The LGK
Experiential Learning Center offers an array of programs to fully engage
your company’s group in adventure based experiential learning that
addresses enhanced communication, team building and thinking skills.
Experiential education, or learning by doing, is a process being
utilized by more and more companies as they look for new ways to train
and educate (or reeducate) their employees. Studies show that as humans,
not only do we learn more if we are engaged and actively participating
in the learning, but are more apt to retain upwards of 75% of what we
absorb if done experientially. By submerging ourselves fully in the
challenge and learning process presented on the teambuilding and
challenge courses, we come away with a sense of accomplishment and a new
set of tools.
Challenge is defined differently by each individual. We all have a
‘comfort zone’ in which we spend most of our time. This consists of our
daily tasks, errands and routines that have become second nature. What
we often forget is that learning takes place when we push ourselves and
make the choice to step outside this comfort zone. It is here where we
rely on others, recognize and trust in their skills, and draw on our
talents and strengths, often surprising ourselves (and others) in the
process. It is through this process of experiential education that we
learn by doing-we learn from and about each other and about ourselves.
Each group that utilizes the experiential program is unique, as is what
they take away from it. Special attention is given to determine the
needs, goals and desired outcomes of each group. Each program is a
progressive series of activities, games, initiatives (problem solving
challenges) and low and or high elements that are custom tailored and
